I’m running MOM 2005 SP1 and been trying to monitor SQL cluster 2005 64bit on
windows 2003 SP2 R2 64bit (x64).
The MOM server is not on the same domain as the cluster SQL.
I was able to add the 2 nodes and the discovery found the Microsoft Cluster
and the DTC Cluster as cluster computer that I can choose to manage (from mom
admin) but I’m unable to see the SQL Cluster itself and I can’t monitor it.
I have been trying to re-install the agent, run discovery, made sure that
the MOM server can resolve the SQL instance name to IP….but it didn’t help.
Could it be that because that agent is 32bit and the SQL is 64bit the agent
it can’t “see” the SQL?
Any idea what I can try to do?

Hi Guy,

Have you installed the cluster MP and verfiy that it can see the cluster?
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=53ae834a-7369-4655-82e5-1c2563cec677&displaylang=en
Also, it might be a MP problem becurse you machine is in another domain.
Is it a domain in the same namespace with truests between?

Yes, I do have the MP installed on the server. There is no trust between the
domains.
I didnt mention in my first post that I do see the instance of the SQL
listed in the admin under:"Unmanaged Computers" but i dont get any alerts
status that way.

Hi Guy,

No you will not get any alerts as long as it is unmanaged. Have you tried
right-click it and see if you can get it to be agent managed?

Guy try the following:
Stop the mom agent on both x64 nodes.
Clear the mom agent cache on both x64 nodes.
Delete the instance name from the unmanaged server list in the MOM Admin
console.
Start the mom agent on both x64 nodes.
Give it 10 minutes and do a ctrl-F5 refresh of the MOM Admin console, and
check under Cluster Computers to see if the instance name appeared.

Let us know if this helps.

I have tried that -no help.
I have also try to un-install the agents, remove the nodes from MOM and
delete the cluster from the unmanaget then after adding back the node i still
dont see the SQL not in cluster and not in unmanaget computer. (waited for 1
hour).
